Minneapolis, MN September 15, 2026 --(PR.com)-- akoyaGO, a foundation management software company, today announced the launch of akoyaGO Gives, a new initiative that replaces traditional conference swag with direct donations to local nonprofits.
At every conference akoyaGO attends this season, the company's booth will feature a handful of vetted local nonprofits, typically recommended by its own foundation clients in that area. Attendees can scan a QR code at the booth, enter their email address, and choose which organization they want to support. akoyaGO will donate $5 on the attendee's behalf for each submission, at no cost to the attendee.
“We’re filling hearts, not bags,” said Mike Scoville, Director of Partnerships and Growth at akoyaGO.
The company reviewed what it has handed out at past conferences and found that while items like notebooks, pens, and tech gadgets often get used, many end up in the trash. akoyaGO decided to redirect that budget toward the communities it visits instead.
Every dollar the company would have spent on swag now goes to a nonprofit doing the work its foundation clients care about, which akoyaGO says is the reason most attendees are in the room in the first place.
How It Works
A screen at each booth tracks a running donation total for that conference and for the season. When an attendee takes part, the process works as follows:
● The attendee scans the QR code and selects from the local nonprofits featured that week
● The attendee receives an immediate notification confirming which organization they supported
● akoyaGO donates directly to the nonprofit
● Each email address is limited to one donation, so the giving stays honest
Why It Matters
Five dollars doesn't sound like much on its own. Multiplied across a few hundred conversations at a single conference, it adds up to meaningful support for local nonprofits. akoyaGO says the goal is for attendees to walk away with the sense that their five minutes at the booth did something good.
Where to Find akoyaGO Gives
akoyaGO Gives kicks off at Finance, Administration, and Operations Group (FAOG) Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, and will travel with the company to every conference it attends this season. Updates on participating nonprofits and running donation totals will be posted to akoyaGO's social accounts you can follow on their Linktree. They are encouraging attendees to use the hashtag #akoyaGOGives.
